History of the Volkswagen Golf GTI

In 1975, the first Volkswagen Golf Mk1 GTI was introduced at a motor show in Frankfurt, Germany. It later made its way to the United Kingdom two years later. Initially, interest in the vehicle did not take off in the UK as it featured a left hand drive, however eventually sales did catch on when its other merits were realised.

In 1984, a newer version of the Golf was introduced. The Mk2 Golf GTI offered a larger engine at 1781 cc and 113 bhp. Other notable differences were its increased size and slightly heavier weight. Overall this did little to change the power to weight ratio. However, later another engine was added with 138 bhp. This meant the Golf GTI could easily get to 130 mph in just 8 seconds. Many VW Golf fans found this version to be the best of all the Golf hatchbacks.

The 3rd version of the GTI, the Mk3, was revealed later in 1992. Whilst the engine was a little larger at 2.0 and 8v, it still had the same bhp of 113 as the Mk2 GTI Golfs. The aerodynamic design of the vehicle had improved. However, the weight of the car also increased. This version of the Golf was never managed to match the popularity in comparison to the Mk2 version.

Six years later in 1998, the Mk4 GTI was introduced. This was significant because this was the first time a diesel engine could be obtained in a Golf. This move was in an effort to compete with other cars made by rival car makers. Initially, the Golf didn’t capture much attention. It wasn’t until later when a special anniversary edition was released that boasted an engine capable of 180 bhp did people began noticing.

The Mk5 GTI was launched in 2004 at a motor show in Paris. It came with a 2.0 engine capable of 200 bhp. The gearbox featured six speeds. Once again, the VW Golf was a serious competitor in the market. However, production of the vehicle stopped entirely in 2008 due to increased costs of production. The Golf is still popular today as a used vehicle by many.

If you are looking for a vw golf for sale you can still buy most of these models second hand but it will be very hard to get the older ones in top condition.

Mercedes Blackbird Design Study

It is a matter of common observation that the designs of the vehicles over the past few years has gained so much novelty so as to force us to think that in the near future the car running on the roads will appear much unique and exceptional in their designs as compared to the present vehicles. Pondering over the issue will bring a lot more imaginative images in mind about how the future supercars will look like.

Well! We think Mercedes-Benz has read the imagination of the people and Peter Vardai has come up with his design, the Blackbird which is a study paying reverence to Mercedes-Benz’s racing history. Peter Vardai says that his design is a result of feeling – a feeling of freedom and speed. He is of the view that the slick body is meant to evince movement, speed and airplanes. Literally, the black and silver together gives the car an astonishing, dynamic and amazing looks. The sporty shape of the design is no doubt representing the class of Mercedes in auto racing and of course the radical thinking of Bran.

Well! This is just a study and there is no possibility to view any such model running on the streets yet, but certainly one should acknowledge and appreciate the wild imagination of the designer.

2011 BMW X1 M Sport

We have heard that BMW has publicized the attainability of the M-Sport package on the X1 series and that too with the introduction of the X1 xDrive28i and the market who takes the honor of offering this is the British market. In British market the model bears a price tag of £26,615 OTR ($42,500 at the current exchange rates) for a BMW X1 sDrive18d M Sport and £27,710 OTR ($44,000 at the current exchange rates) for xDrive18d M Sport.

The M Sport package will feature a new set of 17-inch star-spoke M alloy wheels, high gloss Shadowline exterior trim for the window fence, chrome plated door sill finishers along with M designation, Anthracite headlining, Sports seats and M Sport multi-function steering wheel.

Both the BMW X1 xDrive18d and the BMW X1 sDrive18d will be powered by a four-cylinder diesel engine with an output of 143 HP and torque of 236lb-ft. both the models are capable of sprinting from 0-60 mph in 10.1 seconds and 9.6 seconds respectively. The top speed for both the model is 121 mph and 124 mph respectively.

2011 McLaren MP4-12C

McLaren has finally unveiled the initial details of their first ever supercar which they have designed without the collaboration of their old partners, Mercedes. The MP4-12C seems to come straight from the Formula 1 race circuit. The engineers at McLaren have examined the technologies of this supercar on the race circuit. However, this supercar has a unique design that we really wonders if we won’t view this car making impression on the streets.

This new supercar MP4-12C is in fact a tribute to the legendary 1981 Formula 1 MP4/1 which is known to be the most admired car in the Formula 1 over the years. This new supercar has a twin-turbo 3.8L V8 engine under the hood with an output of 600 HP and a torque of 433lb-ft mated with a seven-speed Seamless Shift Dual Clutch Gearbox (SSG). This supercar sprints from 0-60 mph in just 3.5 seconds with a top speed of about 200 mph.

2012 Ferrari FF

At last Ferrari has unveiled the official details about their new successor for the 612 Scaglietti which is given the name FF – Ferrari Four (four seats and four wheel drive). Ferrari FF is unique in number of ways. Firstly, it is considered as the most powerful, four-seater car from the company. Secondly, it is the first four-wheel drive car from Ferrari and most importantly it is 50% lighter than any other traditional four-wheel drive system.

The genius minds of Pininfarina are accountable for the design of Ferrari FF. Ferrari is of the view that this new car is not an evolution but a revolution. The Ferrari FF has a 6,262cc direct injection V12 engine under the hood with an output of 600 HP at 8,000 rpm and 503 lbs-ft of torque at 6,000 rpm. The Ferrari FF sprints from 0-60 mph in just 3.7 seconds with a top speed of 208 mph.

The Ferrari FF will be expected to make its world debut at Geneva Motor Show in March 2011. Possibly, the production version will appear somewhere in 2012.

Porsche Panamera Coupe Convertible

Porsche has not yet decided to bring the Convertible version for their Panamera, but there are tuning firms which are so keen to give us a reflection of the model that how it may seem like. The project is not associated with Panamera directly as it is in fact gets its life from a Nissan 350Z Roadster. The tuning firm behind this project is Fairy Design who introduced this model at the Tokyo Auto Show.

The objective behind this project is to gain the appreciation from the people by presenting something extraordinary and unique to them. The body kit, fashionable wheels and air ride could not be able to impress the tuning firm. So, the tuning firm decided to customize the 350Z. What they bring into it is the custom air brushed murals under the hood, side body panels, a new set of wheels, an amazing white exterior finish and not to forget Panamera inspired headlamps.

Perhaps, the idea is not very convincing and it may not be the case with Porsche’s original Panamera convertible version, but we can say that the tuner has brought a great vehicle on its own to have the desired appreciation.

2011 BMW M3 E92 by IND Distribution

A lot of tuning firms have become active during the recent few years as we have seen great many numbers of customized vehicles in the past. Out of which some made the impression on our minds and other simply not.

One such tuning firm, IND Distribution knows all the ins and outs of the markets and is therefore given the opportunity to turn BMW M3 E92 into a machine which is beyond the imaginations. Martin D, the owner of BMW M3 E92 has handed over his car to IND Distribution to customize it into a sensational vehicle which we cannot explain in words.

The tuning package includes a long list of upgrades, modifications and addition of new parts. some of the major upgrades include a new BMW Motorsport M3 GT4 front lip, BMW M3 Edition front grilles, side grilles, IND-tinted LED lights, IND textured black valve covers, IND painted ignition coil covers, IND gloss black mirror caps, KW Clubsport coilovers, a Kreisseig Japan valve actuated exhaust system, a Challenge Race X pipe, a Varis Japan GT wing and diffuser, and a gloss black center mesh on the front and rear bumper inserts. Apart from these the vehicle gets a new set of Volk TE37 wheels in 18×9.5 +22 on the front and 18×10.5 +22 on the rear wrapped around 275/35/18 and 315/30/18 Falken RT615K.

Although, the vehicle already has a remarkable power under the hood, to say, a 4.0L V8 engine with an output of 420 HP, IND has introduced an ESS Tuning VT2-600 supercharger kit with a custom finished intake manifold, an IND textured black valve covers, KW ClubSport coilovers and a Brembo GT-R brake kit with slotted disks on the wishes of the owner, Martin D. these additions have raised the vehicle output power to 600 HP and a torque of 400lb-ft.

2011 BMW M3 “Frozen Gray” Track Edition

BMW revealed its 30-piece limited edition M3 Coupe dandified with a Frozen Gray finish just a few months back. We still remember what a great appreciation that car received as the whole lot of 30 units sold out in less than 12 minutes. Well! At that time we are not aware of the fact that a brother of BMW M3 Coupe is under generation process in the Netherlands known as the M3 Frozen Gray track Edition.

We haven’t got much detail about how many units of this Track Edition are going to be produced, but we certainly know that the New Track Edition will share the same matte Frozen Gray exterior finish with M3 Frozen Gray Coupe. The M3 Frozen Gray Track Edition will make its world debut at AutoRai Show (April 13^th to April 23^rd) in the Amsterdam.

The M3 Track Edition will come with M3 Competition Package, which simply means that the track Edition will be powered with 4.0L V8 engine with an output of 420 HP and a torque of 420 Nm. The engine will be paired with a standard six speed manual transmission, or an optional M dual clutch transmission. Due to having a Start-Stop system, fuel consumption is improved and also lowering the CO₂ emission by 24g/km.

2011 Audi R8 Tron by West Coast Customs and Monster Cable

Majority of the people believe that there is no other way round to mutilate a sports car. It is perhaps the right time to bring before these people the Tron-themes Audi R8 by West Coast Customs and Monster Cable. Have a look at this customized car and the only word you will utter is ‘SICK’. What I mean here by using this word is it will certainly make you shock. It is certainly a remarkable job of transforming the ideas taken from the Tron motorcycle to a car. Surely, this represents a lot of class, skills and guts of the minds behind this project.

This customized Audi R8 has nothing to do with E-Tron R8. Still, Audi R8 Tron gets glowing rims, glowing vents, a glowing back seat and a wicked bright chrome finish. Above all, the brilliant minds of West Coast Customs and Monster Cable didn’t even touch the engine compartment; perhaps they are right in doing so as excessive of everything always brings the fall. This doesn’t mean that the tuner is not able to achieve the required objectives. They have certainly achieved it with what they have done and the rest of the class of Audi R8 has already seen by us.

2011 Lexus IS-F Club Performance Accessory

We have seen another customized Lexus IS-F emerged out of the Tokyo Auto Show which belongs to TRD, an acronym for Toyota Racing Department. This customized Lexus by TRD is given the name IS-F Club Performance Accessory. The new package from the TRD makes the vehicle the most strong member of IS family which has given this new car a revised bolder look.

TRD has introduced a new carbon hood, front and rear spoiler and a rear diffuser. In interior, they use carbon switch panel base, a carbon engine cover, and paddle shift and sports seat wrapped up in orange leather.

TRD didn’t limit itself to the exterior and interior of the car. To enhance the driving experience, TRD includes new sports suspension and brakes. Apart from these the Club Performance Accessory also receives a titanium exhaust, magnesium forged wheels, and a mechanical LSD. TRD didn’t make any adjustments under the hood as IS-F is already powered with 5.0L V8 engine with an output of 416 HP at 6,600 rpm and torque of 371lb-ft at 5,200 rpm. Perhaps, it is just about enough to receive and modifications.
