Dodge Durango has been out of sight for the last two years as it had been washed away from the market in 2009. Durango has now become a unibody vehicle instead of being an on frame motor truck that it used to be. One can now easily keep aside the past of this car and experience an all changed car with a more comfy cabin.
Digging up the Durango
Durango shares a few common aspects with Jeep Grand Cherokee but is considerably bigger. It has a wheelbase that is bigger by five inches and a body that has been stretched by about ten inches from a Grand Cherokee. It is slightly taller and broader as well.
The shape and contours of this new truck are naturally developed and more appealing from what they were in 2009.
Nicer interiors, outdated technology
Keeping its promise of improving the interiors Chrysler group has raised the quality of the trucks interiors very aesthetically. It now harbors softer armrests, supportive seats and a great profile that make the person driving and the passengers really comfortable.
The seven seat arrangement is very common for such a truck and is not refreshing at all. Its topmost model is priced $42,645 and this has well aired front seats, heated steering wheel, a backup camera and much more. The lowest model priced $30,045 includes a remote start and an optional Bluetooth.
Old-school, eight-cylinder power
Durango offers 360 horsepower and 390 lb torque for a solid starting acceleration pulling force. Its five speed automatic gears cause problems when it comes to driving at the lowest gear. Durango would be the biggest vehicle to receive Pentstar V-6 that certainly lower’s the engine’s response. Towing capability is reduced to 6400 pounds and fuel efficiency increases to 16/23 mpg with back wheel drive.
Nothing truck-like about the ride
Dodge Durango that was driven by us at Northern California is placed beneath Citadel but incarnates its sporty posture. It is available in chrome and black body colors for exterior body. Durango has reduced in height by 0.8 inches. This has made the ride a very comfy one and there have been no compromises in terms of the comfort. When driven at a high speed a lot of noise is generated by its wide tires that can pose to be a problem sometimes.
A modern utility vehicle
All that can be said is that Durango can pose tough competition for the other trucks in this range which is very inspiring for Dodge that has been criticized a lot in the last few years for its average vehicles. Durango has redefined its image when it comes to a comfortable ride, a refined cabin , power and capacity. So, all in all it is a good buy for all of you who want to go out with whole family and tow boats and other stuff while camping.
