Key Features
The 2011 Chevrolet equinox is the object for small families who wish to enjoy polished, safe and adaptable machine with surprising fuel economy in 4-cylinder form. The Equinox is plusher than the immediate former model with proportional features and an appearance which reflect the previous releases from Chevrolet. The cabin has a number artistic shapes and a central control panel that almost matches that found in the Cadillac SRX; with vents on the side of the climate controls and the radio.
The power behind the 2011 Chevrolet Equinox is either from a V-6 or a 4-cylinder base which is very economical. These two engines performance is acceptable but the hit is the new 2.4 liter, 4- cylinder, 182-horsepower direct injection engine which also has adjustable valve timing. It idles quietly with an n acceptable DI sound and scores a stellar 32-mpg EPA in highway ratings.
Both engines are powerful but the V-6 is better suited or utility that involves considerably high load capacities. The Chevy accelerates 0-60 mph in less than 8seconds with the V-6; the bigger V-6 a second faster and less than 9 seconds with the 4-cylinder. The 2011 Chevrolet Equinox is better in handling then models before it thanks to considerable chassis upgrading.
The Equinox has very attractive interiors; it provides an excellent driving posture which allows a wide enough outward view. It has quality and supportive seats than most of other small cars. The LTZ model offers more comfort with cross-stitched perforated leather in dual tone. Its rear seats can be inclined in different positions easily with ample knee room than any other model in its class. In addition it has a stretchy net, retractable luggage cover and two large luggage spaces and a deep center console space.
The Equinox performs well in crash tests as well as for it safety equipment ranking as the Top Safety Pick-up in the IIHS rankings. The biggest disappointment of the Equinox is the inexcusable rear 3-quarter vision which is poorer that other lesser plush cars in its class even those that appear to have high beltlines. Fortunately, a reversing camera is standard in the LT.
