Thousands and may be millions of people have the assumption that the most the beautiful car that ever came out of Japan is the Mazda RX-7. This was the vehicle that consumed about several years in manufacturing and finally in 1978 it came out on the streets to rule. It was an entire team of Japanese designers and engineers lead by Kenichi Yamamoto that made the Wankel engine possible and made this dream come true; the high performance, stunningly designed, beating several other sports cars, The Mazda RX-7. Mazda was basically known as Toyo Kogyo back in 1961 a Japanese Company that had the license by patent owners known as NSU Opel Germany; this license gave them the rights to come up with a new rotary engine that lead to Mazda RX-7.
Rotary engine was then named after the person who invented it; Wankel. This engine carries no crankshaft or pistons and carries a simple rotor blade that is fuel injected that is spans around the central drive shaft which is connected with the rear wheel for driving. Talking in theory language, the rotary engine is far more powerful and superior; it has a simple design compared to the traditional engine that has conventional piston combustion. This means that the rotary engine has lesser parts that move so the chances of things going wrong a minimal while the power output gets more efficient.
Following the successful models of Mazda RX-2, 3, and 5 as well, Mazda has to overcome its financial problems as well. This was the time when this company invented a bigger 12A engine that got into the car known as Mark-I RX-7 and was launched in 1978 till 1980. The second series of this car came in the market in 1981 till 1983.
This excellent model by Mazda was only a two seater car that also had a 2-hardtop sports coupe; being aerodynamic and curvaceous this car quickly attracted the entire world and all the car lovers admired this instant classis by Mazda. You will be amazed that the design of Mazda RX-7 was built totally around its exhaust and engine configuration. Although this car was really expensive to keep and run that would only give you around 20 miles in a gallon but it was around the half the price that of Porsche. It has everything like sun roofs and electric windows therefore both the old and the young loved it; around 475,000 cars were bought.
