There are some added features for the 2011 Range Rover. These include optional reclining seats at the rear and 19-speaker premium sound. Descent and ascent control features have been enhanced. This vehicle bridges the gap between outbound muscle and uptown luxury easily. English ambition is written all over it. Overhauls for the engine and interior were done last year including the inclusion of a new V8, 5.0-liter direct injection engine. The 2011 Rover maintains these changers and new additions as well such as on the interior and a new Terrain Response System. Also added are reclining seats with head restraints that are winged. The latest engine is an improvement from the last one a 4.2-liter and 4.4-liter V8. The current engine produces 375 hp while the Super-charged version gives a resounding 510 hp. The fuel economy is still appalling but putting in consideration the overall performance of the Range Rover that is a fair trade-off.
Luxury SUVs that are able to cross the Sahara desert or Australian Outback are rare. Maybe only the Lexus LX 570 is a match for the Range Rover for 2011 in terms of off-road dominance. However, this does not mean that the well grounded SUV buyer is likely to have made up his mind upon laying eyes on the Range Rover. In fact, the bulk of owners will never get to experience this SUV’s off-road prowess. Therefore they may go for other seemingly more polished models like Mercedes-Benz GL550, BMW X5, Porsche Cayenne or Range Rover Sport. The sporty reliability of the Land Rover cannot also be ignored. In terms of mechanical reliability, the Range Rover remains the worst ranked vehicles. The other viable choices are more likely to ease many of the pains of car ownership. However for heritage, class and intrepid character, the range Rover 2011 version is a leader in the field.
The Range Rover for 2011 comes in two trim levels namely the Super-charged and the HSE trims. The HSE has 19-inch wheels, locking rear differential which is electronic, foglights, adjustable air suspension, parking sensors for the front and rear, rearview camera, privacy glass, climate control with tri-zone, heated windshield, rearview mirrors that are heated and powered, automatic xenon headlights equipped with washers, heated leather seats at the front that are power adjustable, telescoping steering with power and tilt, keyless entry, interior wood trim and heated steering
The standard model has a 14-speaker audio system from Harman Kardon with surround sound, USB/auxiliary ports and Bluetooth. The Luxury package from HSE has additions of 20-inch wheels, heated and ventilated seats at the front and rear and upgraded leather.
Under the hood is a 5.0-liter V8 engine. The HSE produces 375 hp coupled with 375 pound-feet torque. The Super-charged version produces 510 hp and gives 461 pounds-feet torque. The transmission for both versions is an automatic with manual shift. When tested in Edmund’s testing for performance, the Supercharged accelerated from a stop to 60 mph in an impressive 5.5 seconds.
