With a four wheel drive, superior height and adequate roof space, the Nissan Xterra 2011 is surely designed for the outdoors. It has that traditional look that has lately been overtaken by the new breed of SUVs called the crossovers. It is built on a truck frame that is suited for unforgiving terrain.
The 2011 Xterra has three trim levels: X, S and the Pro-4X comes with a four wheel drive, five-passenger seating with four doors. The Pro-4X is only equipped with the four-wheel drive. Some of the standard features in the 2011 Xterra X include the keyless ignition, cruise control, privacy glass, sixteen inch steel wheels, tilt steering wheel, air-conditioning, 6-speaker CD changer system and electronic locks and mirrors. For the Xterra S the steel wheels are replaced with alloy wheels. In addition it has first aid kit, off-road tires, cargo system and an adjustable driver’s seat. The four wheel drive S is fitted with a gear case and a roof rack.
The Pro-4X comes with more additional features. These include cloth upholstery, foglamps, hill-start assist, power locking rear differential, skid plates, hill-descent control, off-road lights, leather inlaid steering wheel, up-scaled off-road tires, Bluetooth connectivity, Rockford Fosgate nine speaker sound system, white-face gauges, satellite radio, auxiliary audio jack, and steering-wheel sound controls. The Pro-4X has an optional Leather package that replaces the cloth upholstery with a leather one.
The 2011 Xterra comes with a 261 horsepower 4-liter V6 engine and with a towing capacity of up to 5,000 pounds. The two-wheel drive X and S are equipped with a 5-speed automatic transmission, whereas the four-wheel drive S and Pro-4X have an option between the manual and the six-speed automatic transmission. Some reviewers find the handling of Nissan Xterra 2011 to be smooth.
According to EPA the four-wheel drive has a fuel efficiency estimated at 16 miles per gallon in the city and 20 miles per gallon on the highway with the manual transmission. With the automatic speed transmission, fuel efficiency is estimated at 15 miles per gallon in the city and 20 miles per gallon on the highway. Fuel economy for the 2011 two-wheel drive have not yet been released.
Compared to most SUVs, the Nissan Xterra 2011 has more cargo features that include ceiling hooks, side hooks, luggage side nets and under-floor storage. It has a cargo capacity of 35 cubic feet with the all seats in use and 66 cubic feet with the second row seats folded. For a family that decides to go for a serious road trip with a lot of luggage, the 2011Xterra could come in handy.
Standard safety features in the 2011 Nissan Xterra include stability control, antilock disc brakes, airbags (front-seat side and side curtain airbags), vehicle dynamic control and electronic brake force Distribution. The Pro-4X models is equipped with a hill-start assist and hill-descent control.
For the 2011 Xterra Nissan offers a 3-year 36,000 mile warranty and a 5-year 60,000 mile powertrain warranty. The average price for the 2011 Nissan Xterra may range from$23,361 to $29,437.
