The 2010 Volkswagen GTI

Touted as the sixth-generation of the Volkswagen hatchback line, the 2010 Volkswagen GTI continues the legacy of a long-entrenched design with some new features to boot. It comes out under considerable pressure after being dubbed by its manufacturers as a performance icon. It traces its roots to the original 1983 MKI GTI.
This three (3) or five (5) door hatchback accommodates five (5) passengers. It sports an aggressive front end and a hatch area that is sleeker than its predecessors’. Powering this car is a turbocharged in-line 4-cylinder engine that is intercooled with direct injection. It offers a power of 200 hp at 5,100 to 6,000 rpm and torque of 207 lb-ft at 1,800 to 5,000 rpm. Standard equipment includes 6-speed manual transmission, electronic stabilizer program, anti-slip regulation, cross differential system, electronics differential lock, electronic brake force distribution, anti-lock brake system, cruise control, leather wrapped multifunction steering wheel, Touch screen AM/FM radio with in-dash 6 CD changer, iPod adapter, and Sirius Satellite Radio.
Owners of the 2010 Volkswagen GTI can opt for additional features including the Power Sunroof, 18-inch wheels, Bi-Xenon headlamps, Dynaudio advanced sound, and Bluetooth connectivity. The optional 18-inch wheels are raising some concerns however due to some perceived connection with observed miscalibration of speedometers. Not much excitement is being stirred after its incorporation as standard equipment for 2011.
Its new suspension however fares a lot better as it stirs excitement among Volkswagen GTI enthusiasts. The European-tuned suspension is fully independent while inspiring confidence in almost any road or condition. Safety features have been given a boost through its Electronic Limited Slip System which facilitates transfer of extra torque to the wheel/s with most traction when slippage occurs. The front seat space is adequate whether in the 3-door or 5-door form although families will appreciate the latter in spite of the higher tag price when the back seat space is considered.
Most people will agree that the over-all design inside and out is essentially clean and uncluttered. The interior feel can actually compare with higher-priced cars making the entry price of $ 23,990.00 a lot easier to accept. Even the engine carried over from earlier models is deemed acceptable especially with the lesser weight of this GTI. It is also worth mentioning that GTI owners have better chances when it comes to limited parking space or weaving through traffic. For all intents and purposes, the 2010 Volkswagen GTI manages to become a worthy predecessor of an earlier performance icon.
