The manufacturer of the 2010 Toyota Camry Hybrid provided a vehicle for an actual road test before this review. Some prominent likeable features about this vehicle are that it is highly fuel efficient and has decent acceleration, it offers a smooth and comfortable quality of ride, outside noise is suppressed excellently. Some not so likeable features would be its rather bland styling and the lack of a hybrid identity, a not so easy handling when compared to other Camrys, and the inability to maintain a steady speed during cruise mode.
The 2010 Toyota Camry Hybrid is the same standard midsized Camry sedan, it has a very frugal hybrid powertrain, which is different. There are revised instruments added to the 2010 model, and a rather mild restyling has been done, this is reflected in the unique, distinct grille.
Good fuel economy is the selling point of any Hybrid and the 2010 Toyota Camry Hybrid is no different. It has a rating of 33 mpg in the city and 34 mpg in the highway, and the EPA gives these figures. A full hybrid system like the ‘Hybrid Synergy Drive’ system, enables the car to move on just electric power, under special circumstances. The Prius, as also other Toyota hybrids, use this system. For additional power, or for higher speed, the 40 hp electric motor , along with the 147 hp w2.4l gasoline engine combine to do the job. The battery is also recharged when the vehicle brakes or coasts along. This system is integrated within the car, but the battery pack occupies a third of the trunk space.
The experience of Toyota in the hybrid car segment is obvious. The 2010 Toyota Camry Hybrid has a smooth power train, which does not hinder in any way. With the sound system on, it is barely possible to know if the gas engine is on or off, you have to double check with the instrument panel. The ride is soft and smooth, the insides have space, and 5 people can sit comfortably with a lot of legroom in the back. This vehicle is good to handle, but with the weight of the Hybrid, it is not quite as nimble as you would think it. The 2010Toyota Camry Hybrid offers few options, but this is thanks to the fact that the car has so many features, which it considers as standard features. In fact, you could say that it has the greatest XLE trim level, and this on a regular Camry, along with a smart key system. Dual zone automatic climate control, the 440 watt JBL audio system along with Blue Tooth, the power glass moon roof, reclineable back seats, leather interior, aluminium wheels of 16 inches, plus an air ionizing system for the interior, warmed up front seats, warmed outside mirrors and a navigation system are all included in the standard features, and this speaks volumes for the class of the vehicle.
