2010 Ford Flex

The 2010 Ford Flex is a full-sized crossover that features both SUV and Minivan properties. It is powered by two types of V-6 engines – a 3.5L V6 engine packed with a six-speed automatic transmission and the EcoBoost Version which is a direct-injected twin-turbocharged engine. This version which was made available in the 2010 model requires the all-wheel drive system which effectively transfers a double amount of torque to the front or rear axle when required. The EcoBoost option is a welcome addition to the Flex along with the Active Park Assist Self-Parallel Parking System which is offered in Limited models.
It retains its unmistakable boxy look, which can be attractive or otherwise, depending on personal preference. Body-color mirrors and white roofs are seen on SEL and Limited models while wheel options offered range from 17 to 20 inches, depending on the model. The Flex models include SE, SEL FWD, SEL AWD, SEL EcoBoost, Limited FWD, Limited AWD, and Limited EcoBoost. EcoBoost models are fitted with separate dual exhausts.
The 2010 Ford Flex can accommodate from six (6) to seven (7) passengers depending on the configuration. Its interior is quite roomy although the third row is rather cramp. The materials used to achieve the well-thought of styling are of high-quality resulting to a clean and elegant look that is no way over-styled. The play on materials and textures including faux wood and plated plastic makes for an interesting mixture that works well for the over-all look.
Good comfort and room is provided when riding the 2010 Ford Flex. There is no problem with visibility from the driver’s seat although parallel parking and reversing may prove challenging at least for the unpracticed, due to the size of the vehicle. Some of the items found inside are in keeping with its size including the seats and cup holders. The big, flat and comfortable chairs are quite ideal for those long trips.
The EcoBoost version serves its purpose in performance and handling. Although the base engine performs quite well except in extreme conditions, the additional horsepower and torque from the EcoBoost makes for a relaxing vehicle, considering its size. The engine exhibits its brawn and strength quietly, upping the thrust when necessary and turning off the huffer when not required. Its SUV-like towing capacity is not something to be ignored.
An interest in the 2010 Ford Flex may also open some interest in relatively similar options like the Chevrolet Traverse and the Mazda CX-9. The steep price or the hefty curb weight may make you rethink of opting for the 2010 Ford Flex, but its good points are considerable. The price is relative really, depending on how one looks at it. It is considered one of the most affordable mid-sized SUVs in the US. It is also ranked as the most affordable large SUV. However, it continues to face strong competition with the Chevrolet Traverse, Toyota Highlander and the Buick Enclave.
