Some features one instantly likes about the 2010 Lexus SC 430 are its folding hard top, the luxurious nature of the cabin, its smooth power train and its superb audio system. A few things you may not like, however are its bathtub kind of styling, the sunken and deep seating, the unappealing rear seats and the lack of space in the trunk.
The 2010 Lexus SC 430 is a roadster with a hard top which is retractable. It has a rather bulb like body and its hard top can be power folded. It has a big V-8 engine with 6 speed automatic transmission. There have been just a few minor changes since the previous model. This ageing and sporty convertible has been put back by the small and cheap Lexus IS 250 C and 350 C convertible cars. This automobile has a chunky look, tall sides and sloping back and front ends and this tends to give the vehicle the look of a bath tub, which is not at all desirable in a car.
The 4.3l, 288 hp V-8 engine runs the Sc 430. Attached with a 6 speed sequential shift with automatic transmission and Shift Logic Control, this automobile is fast and impressive and shifts are delivered crisply and instinctively with the help of the efficient transmission. The fuel economy is quite good with 16/23 mpg. The vehicle has fine handling, but is cramped for space on the inside. The SC 430 has a revised and refined navigation system with the latest sound system, a Mark Levinson along with XM satellite radio, Bluetooth and USB connectivity.
At the fag end of its model life, the Lexus SC 430 is still worth its money, if just for its foldable hard top, the luxury cabin and the effort free and smooth power train. The only hitch is its bathtub look, and the deep down seats. Lack of back space along with trunk space is another big minus. A good competitor is the 2010 Jaguar XK.
With responsive and precise steering, this vehicle tends to under steer, which is not to one’s liking. And when you push it too far, the automobile changes to over steer, and this it does rather quickly. A more than expected rough ride is offered, thanks to the large, eighteen inch wheels. The Mark Levinson sound system is the best available audio system on any car. The sound is controlled intelligently, according to the top being down or up. It has 7 channels and a 240 watts system.
