Hyundai has continued there uncontested push of successful models by introducing yet another one into the fray: the 2011 Hyundai Elantra. The car has an attractive design, incorporating numerous curves to blend together to make an extremely attractive silhouette; its design is aerodynamic, visually pleasing, and unique, with every detail and curve planned and put there for a reason.
The interior design seems like a continuation of the same idea, with every line put into place for a reason; all of the curves and lines direct the eye to various parts of the dashboard, like the central screen, which has a navigation system, a function that can show pictures from albums on your phone or stored in the cars 16GB flash memory, and even sports and stock market news. The seating is comfortable, with seats made of comfortable fabric that have controlled heating for both front and back seats. In addition, the space arrangement is very well designed, making this compact car deceptively bigger from the inside perspective. As far as exterior noise goes, the Elantra is not completely soundproof, but it is not a box of white noise either.
The Hyundai Elantra runs on a 4-cylinder 1.8L engine, which gives 148 horsepower and 131 pound feet of torque. This in combination with the aluminum material base (reducing the overall weight) gives the Elantra an impressive 35 mpg average. Several engine innovations, such as a specially designed motor chain, continuous valve timing, and an offset crank also add to the efficiency of the Elantra, not to mention a 6-speed automatic transmission.
Handling on the Hyundai Elantra is also exceptional. In terms of design, it’s neither shocking nor shabby; it sports a Macpherson strut in the front and a torsion beam in the back. Its real value lies in the fact that its steering is electronic (as opposed to hydraulic) which helps give power back to the car for various other purposes, and that it has specially calibrated suspension and electronic power steering. With these last two features working in tandem, the Elantra becomes a dream of a drive, with great handling that does not compromise a comfortable drive.
On the whole, the 2011 Hyundai Elantra is an exceptionally designed vehicle, with fine-tuned handling, an impressive mpg average, an array of interior electronic elements, and finished off with a unique, planned out, and aesthetically pleasing exterior and interior layout.
