If you were to get an impression of the 2011 Honda Civic Sedan EX based off of a glance of its exterior design, it would appear as an average but beautiful design, bearing many semblances to its predecessors who at the time seemed too futuristic. Avoiding the clunky “box” appearance of some its contemporaries, the Sedan EX’s exterior design shows a kind of smooth arc, which deceives the viewer into thinking the already spacious interior to be even more so, creating a beautiful but simple physique. Its fenders on both sides, in addition to being stylish with features such as an air intake grill and wrap-around tail lights, are low to the ground, but never offer an opportunity for a scrape.
Looking at the interior shows the beautiful yet simple nature of the Civic Sedan EX; the large windshield with intelligently designed glare prevention offers the driver a good range of visibility. Its control panel brings back an element of the futuristic that the Sedan EX’s predecessors set back in the day, with a two-tier control panel that’s brightly illuminated and digital gauges at the base of the windshield on the driver’s side. A built-in navigation system along with Bluetooth and an impressive audio system that includes a USB port and XM Satellite Radio completes the futuristic vibe. In addition to all these features is the spacious back row which can fold in for more storage.
The exterior is also designed for safety; the front of the vehicle is built to absorb the majority if not the entirety of an impact, while the interior also provides air-bags for the front seats, side curtains, and front headrests that mitigate neck injury.
The handling of the 2011 Honda Civic Sedan EX is excellent and comfortable; maneuverability is not a problem given the independent MacPherson front strut and rear multi-link suspension systems, making for a very smooth ride. However, suspension tuning for a more energetic driving experience is a common dealer option, especially if you want to really test the limits of this great suspension system.
The 2011 Honda Civic Sedan EX’s main source of power is its 1.8-liter single overhead cam aluminum alloy four-cylinder engine, with 140 horsepower which runs at 6300 rpm and 128 lb-ft of torque at 4300 rpm. Its street/highway average consumption comes out to about 25/36mpg.
Overall, the 2011 Honda Civic Sedan EX is a simple yet elegant car that follows the futuristic design of its predecessors its own special way.
