You are parked at a restaurant near a mountain top. You see clouds forming in the sky, a little rain might come you whisper to yourself. Then you hear a low growl in the distance. Then the low growl turns into a deep roar. You look around and see a car whisk by then slowed down then parked right beside your car. You reach for your jaw as the car is right in front of you. And you are left with just silence and a smile on your face.
The 2010 Nissan Altima 3.5 SR Coupe is a hot car with a price tag that fits your wallet just right. It has stunning good looks and a well oiled engine. But is the car more than just eye candy?
The Altima Coupe has a 175-horsepower, 2.5-liter I-4 engine. The 3.5 SR models have a DOHC, 24-valve, 3.5-liter V-6 engine. Nissan’s VQ V-6 is rather old for our times but the engine manages a 270 horsepower at 6000 rpm and 258 pound-feet of torque at 4400 rpm. The four cylinder car has a continuously variable transmission which is a staple on the 3.5 SR and a six-speed manual transmission is an option for potential drivers.
The Altima Coupe has the same hood as is counterparts in Nissan’s lineup but the rest of the front is almost a clone of its siblings. The fenders of the Altima are slightly sleeker and curvaceous but the grille, headlamps, front fascia, and lower air dam are all inherently the Altima’s. The Altima has a roofline that treads through a chiseled rear fender and ends in a stubby tail.
All Altima interiors are exquisitely well made because they are treated with the highest quality materials. It has grained plastic all over and a metallic outline on the dashboard and steering wheel. It also has a leather seats to complete the luxurious look of the cabin.
The Altima’s has reduced seats from five to four but passengers will have a really hard time trying to squeeze through the rear seat. The lack of headroom is a problem for taller passengers there is a chance that if they tried to squeeze in their heads would hit the rear glass. The back seats compensate for a lack of room in the trunk with the set up of the Altima it left little room for luggae in the trunk.
The Altima provides a unique driving experience because once at low speeds the engine does not respond well and once you throttle the pedal it goes full zoom with a torque steer like no other.
