Toyota and Subaru planned to make a RWD sports car somewhere in 2008. This was done in a view of combining each other’s strength to bring something out of extraordinary. After the reports of this collaborative work, we were expecting to have production versions of the Toyota FT-86 and Subaru FT-86, but instead we are shocked to see when Subaru revealed its RWD Concept version at the Geneva Motor Show.
The Subaru RWD Concept is purely a new design which gives a hint of inspiration from the classic rear drive AE86 Toyota Corolla GT coupe (1980s). However, the new car also has some features from the Impreza.
This new RWD Sports Car Technology Concept will be equipped with a 2.0L flat four engine with an output of 175 HP. however, Subaru has a plan to reveal its 2.5L turbocharged version at some later time after the release of the standard edition.
We can expect to have this standard version of Subaru RWD by the end of this year. Subaru Impreza and the new Trezia will also be in lineup of up coming vehicles.
