Installing a car audio system is a little bit tiresome task, but yet you can install a car audio system on your own and save a lot of money. Follow the directions given below:
Required Items
- Electrical Tape
- Screwdriver
- Stereo System
- Wire Cutters
- Wire Strippers
Directions
- First you have to remove your old stereo system. Make sure that you have disconnected the negative cable from the negative terminal of the battery.
- Next, take away the front paneling of the dashboard. Take screwdriver and unfasten the screws holding the old stereo system. Undo each wiring connection.
- Now you need to place the connector in your wiring harness at the rear end of the stereo. Now connect the wiring manually and carefully.
- You have to attach each wire individually, if you are not using a harness.
- Attach the positive and negative wires to the connector on their respective positions. You may need to have a speaker wiring as well to attach the speakers with stereo system.
- Attach the black wire to the stereo system. Use the screwdriver to fasten the screw close to the radio.
- Now you have to attach the red ignition and 12 constant wiring to the stereo system. It is better to take help from the stereo manual to make secure connections. After all the connections have been done, you can now put stereo system in the car stereo system.
- Make sure that the connector is housing all the wiring in the harness. You can purchase it separately or you may have got it with the new stereo system.
- Now fix the new stereo system into the mounting brackets.
- Now you are left with only one cable to attach to the stereo system and that is your antenna cable. Some stereo systems have power antenna cable as well. Attach both the cables in this case.
- Place the stereo in the dashboard at its respective place. Don’t apply any screw to fix it, rather check it whether all the connections are joined properly or not.
- You need to reconnect the negative cable on the battery negative terminal.
- Turn on the engine and switch the stereo system on. Check whether radio and all the speakers are working properly or not.
- Once you are sure, fasten the stereo with screws. Replace the dashboard cover and you are ready to enjoy your new car stereo system.
