Instruction
To replace a fender on your car, follow these steps:
- Retainers are used to connect fender to the bumper. These fenders can be screws, clips, push on nuts, rivets or a combination of any of these items.
- Make sure what sort of retainers are used in your case and remove them accordingly.
- Sometimes you can lower the bumper to reach the fenders, but in many cases you have to remove the whole bumper.
- Lift the hood. Discard any lamps such as headlamp assembly, park lamp, reflectors that are mounted on or around the fender. In some models, you may have to remove the antenna mask as well.
- If your car has rocker molding installed, remove the front end of it by unfastening the screws/clips.
- Next, discard the under hood fender bolts and also discard the bolts under the rocker molding.
- Take the fender away from the vehicle and discard any reflectors, nameplates, emblems, mudguards, rear shields, moldings and rear insulators.
- To locate and other signs of damage, examine the apron behind the fender and the A-pillar.
- Take the new fender and install it reversing the process.
- Put back all the items which you have discarded earlier in a proper way.
- Install the front bumper back to its place.
