As we have already seen the BMW 1-Series Coupe, BMW 1-Series Convertible and the 1-Series M Coupe, it is obvious to assume that the next version would be a BMW 1-Series M Convertible. However, the Convertible by no mean will go on sale anytime before the Coupe.
With the exception of its drop top, the future Convertible would be pretty similar to its Coupe brother. Convertible carries on most of the feature from its Coupe brother such as a sporty exterior package and the same engine. Similarly, like the coupe version, the future Convertible will be offered in three exterior colors that is Valencia Orange Metallic, Alpine White and Black Sapphire Metallic.
The distinguish features between the Coupe and Convertible includes the addition of three large air intakes with the central one cover by a honeycomb-structured grille, exterior mirrors similar to those of M3, and large wheel arches with a chrome grill element along with the M logo.
The interior of the Convertible will feature a high quality, dark Alcantara seats, multifunction steering wheel with a new ‘M’ button for spontaneous activation of the throttle response and also M Dynamic mode of DSC.
The Convertible, like a Coupe will be powered by a twin-turbocharged, all aluminum, 3.0L inline 6 engine with a tendency of generating 335 HP at 5,900 rpm and torque of 332 lb-ft from 1,500 rpm to 4,500 rpm. The engine is connected with a 6-speed manual transmission. the Convertible will be a slightly heavier than the Coupe and will sprint from 0-60 mph in 5 seconds with a top speed of 155 mph.
the Convertible will be unveiled by the end of 2011 and will go on sale in 2012. Before that we have to see the 1-Series M Coupe at the 2011 Detroit Auto Show.
