A large number of Lotus fans disappointed at the Paris Motor Show last month where the Lotus unveiled their five concept models. The reason behind their disappointment was not the number of cars that Lotus brought at the show, but the looks of the cars that they couldn’t relate to the Lotus. When it comes to Lotus, public has a frame of mindset that revolves around the company’s founder, Sir Colin Chapman’s famous adage and philosophy of “Simplify and then add lightness.” But the concept models from Lotus put Chapman’s philosophy back and bring something new.
Obviously, this adage largely represents what a Lotus is all about, so there is nothing wrong with the people reaction at concept models. Perhaps, the simplicity is the main reason behind people liking the Lotus. But with new concept models, Lotus has entirely changed their brand identity and values. They are now aiming to build bigger cars.
