BMW 3-Series is the company’s top sedan which is always considered as the stylish model in the BMW lineup. 3-Series was first introduced in 1975, but it really gained the fame in 1992 when it won the first of 19 straight Car and Driver 10 best awards. This model also won the World Car of the Year and the What Car? Car of the Year awards in 2006. This is not the end, its 3.0 liter twin-turbocharged inline –six won the International Engine of the Year Award for 2007.
We can assume that the newer version cannot just be a minor evolution; it must be a revolution that is required to keep the tradition of the excellence alive.
There are reports that the new 3-Series will be longer than the existing version by an inch and a half. The new version will have shorter overhangs and longer wheelbase in order to give it a sportier look.
We have also got some reports that the new version takes some hints of design from the new generation X3, the new5-Series and the new 7-Series. As far as interior is concerned, we don’t have any news about that but we can expect that the new version will come with the modern technologies available in the 5-Series and the 7-Series.
BMW has already announced that it is planning to bring a four cylinder model to the United States. This is so to meet the higher standards of fuel efficiency.
According to BMW, the new model will be available for sale in 2012.
