Perhaps, one of the best ultimate sports cars from Porsche is their 911 on which they have spent years of working. Besides their best ultimate sport car 911, Boxter is considered as one of their best sellers. In its early earlier, it was not appreciated for being smaller in size and not that much powerful like other Porsche’s cars. But as soon as Cayenne came into the scene, everything gets changed.
The first Boxter was introduced in late 1996 as a 1997 model. It was equipped with 205 liter flat six cylinder engine. Three years after the introduction of the first Boxter, the New Boxter S variant was introduced which was equipped with a larger 3.2 liter motor and a base model received a more powerful 2.7 liter engine.
In years 2003 and 2005, the Boxter came with slight changes. In 2007, the Boxter came with some of the stuff from the baby 911, given the name Cayman. The 2009 model came up with some cosmetic and mechanical upgrades.
There are reports that a new version of Boxter is on its way to automobile market till 2012. This new 2012 version of Boxter is slightly longer than its previous versions. This Boxter will be equipped with a slightly revised version of 310HP 3.4 liter six cylinder engine. Other features of this 2012 Boxter include a short throw six speed manual and Porsche’s seven-speed-dual-clutch PDK transmission. The new model is also equipped with perforated brake disks.
Reports say that the production for this 2012 Boxter is scheduled to start in 2012 in Stuttgart instead of Finland. It is expected that the new model should be launched in 2011 Geneva Motor Show.
