In 2008, the news came from Abarth that they are preparing their own roadster. But after that Abarth did not come up with any prominent version. People began to think and we heard many rumors from here and there that Abarth may be clutched under the wing of other European brands forever. Thus concept seems to be a little injustice with Abarth.
Abarth is working on its new Roadster model that will perhaps launch in 2012. The new roadster will introduce with some new features. The new roadster will come in an entire new design – a transverse, mid-engine layout very much akin to that of the Lotus Elise. The exterior design of the new 2012 Abarth Roadster is an inspiration the 1960s models from Abarth. There were reports that suggest that the new roadster will share the chassis with the KTM X-Bow, but this is still under discussion.
The Abarth Roadster will be powered by the recently launched turbocharged 1.4 liter Multi-Air engine which is capable of producing 170BHP. The engine is connected to a six speed dual-clutch transmission. Possibilities are that the future models will come with seven speed version.
Abarth has scheduled to launch this new roadster in 2012. The estimated price of this model is £25,000 or $40,000. Abarth’s plan is to produce 5,000 units of this car which will offer for sale worldwide.
