With the technological development many new things have come in the market, which we had never thought of in the past. One such thing is the charging of cell phones during long driving sessions. Today most of the phones are USB based and usually requires USB outlet instead of old bulky adapters.
USB ports are usually come built-in in most of the cars, which can be used to attach iPods or other such devices. But in most of the vehicles that lacks the Ford Sync-like system usually don’t have USB ports, instead you will find an open outlet underneath the dashboard panel to serve the purpose. You can use this outlet to add USB port to it.
Adding USB port is not a tough task. You can easily add a USB port to your car. What you need is a fuse, USB adapter or port, soldering device and a cover to give it a fine finish. Adding cover is optional, if you don’t want to add it, leave it. Before installing the USB adaptor turn off the engine and it is better to remove the battery terminal cables to avoid electric shock or use rubber gloves before handling the wiring.
