Radiator Cooling Tips for High Performance Automobiles

For high performance engines it becomes essential to have a high quality of cooling system. But with certain efforts you can get the best from your existing radiator. Just follow the steps given in the following lines to have your radiator cool and efficient for high performance vehicles.
Use Larger Hoses
It is seen that with small hoses the working of the water pump increases. Water pump has to work hard to pump the water with short hoses. You can replace the smaller hoses with larger ones to have a more flow of coolant through the larger hoses. Larger flow through the hoses means more cooling efficiency. While replacing the hoses with larger ones, make sure that the hoses are larger in diameter not in length. Length should be the same. Properly fix them to avoid any leak.
Increase the Pressure in the System
The higher the boiling point, the better will the efficiency of the system. To raise the boiling point, you need to increase the pressure. Increase the pressure, higher would be the boiling point. But increasing the pressure needs special cautions. Over pressurizing can be a disaster. Always take help from your mechanic for any uncertainty. In most of the model, just replacing the radiator cap will increase the pressure.
Add a New Water Pump
To raise the performance of the system, it is better to replace the old water pump with new. New water pump will be more efficient in its working than the old pump. Old pump may not be efficient enough to push the coolant through the engine as easily as the new pump will.
Take Care with Your Fluids
Water is considered as much better at heat transference than antifreeze. However, antifreeze is still required to keep the corrosion and sediment buildup away from the system. You can make a mixture with more water than antifreeze to provide good support to your cooling system. It is better to use 60/40 or 70/30 water, antifreeze ratio rather than 50/50.
Get a Bigger Radiator
For high performance engine, it is sometime appropriate to replace the existing radiator with the one bigger in size. The more the surface area of the radiator, more will be the chances to keep the coolant cool.
New Thermostat
For proper flow of coolant to the engine, it is essential to have a thermostat properly working. If you at any time feel that the thermostat is not working fine, it is better to replace the thermostat with new piece.
Avoid Reducers
It is better to rely on thermostat than to use reducers. A thermostat can take care of the flow of coolant into the engine properly, so there is no need left for the reducers.
Follow these steps to enhance the working of your high performance vehicle with introduction of the strong efficient cooling system.
