A professional auto detailing and cleaning job makes your car look like brand new. However, you can get the same brand new look of your car by waxing it well at your own garage. A professional auto detailing cost a lot of bucks to you while wax is simple, easy and more economical. Waxing is a regular part of the car maintenance and you should know the important points for getting better results from car wax.
Selection of Wax
Selection of wax depends on the kind of paint job your vehicle has. There are so many kinds of waxes are available in the market with different brand names. Choose the one that truly works for your paint job:
- Solid wax: Cars without clear coats, usually the old cars having metallic finishes or flat matte finishes require the solid wax or waxing paste. Solid wax requires certain skills and effort to apply on the metallic body.
- Liquid Waxing Polish: It is best for clear coat, pearling or high gloss paint. It is easy to use and gives your car the smooth gleaming finish. Liquid waxing polish can also be used on old cars for better protection.
Required Material
Following material is required to wax your car:
- Applicator sponge
- Bucket of warm soapy water (use liquid soap)
- Car wax
- Chamois cloth
- Hose
- Soft clean cotton cloth (used for buffing)
Instructions
- Choose the well shady place for your car wash and waxing. Avoid working under direct sunlight.
- Wash the car thoroughly and remove all the dirt and debris from the surface. Dry off the car with chamois cloth.
- Let the car air dry completely for some time.
- Apply a thin even layer of wax on the surface of the car. It is better to work in sections to get good results like working on one section at a time and then move on to the next and so on.
- Once you are done with first layer, leave it to dry. Afterwards use cotton cloth to buff off the dry wax from the surface. For better protection and shine you can apply the second layer of wax as well.
Follow these simple instructions; you can wax your car easily to get the brand new shiny looks. You need not to spend heavy amounts on professional detailing after this. Waxing is simple, easy and affordable.
