How to Touch Up Car Paint

Getting a scratch on your vehicle’s paint is not uncommon. Your car may get a scratch or two at times that spoils the look of your car. Scratches and scrapes are not in any way liked by drivers. They always want smooth shiny looks. However, you can fix small scrapes in your garage by following the given instructions.

Instructions
- Park your car on level surface and set it on handbrake. Now locate the scratches or dents on the surface of your car. Don’t surprise to get many scratchy areas. It is quite common to have small scrapes or dents on the hidden surfaces.
- Get an automotive paint exactly of the same color and shade your vehicle has. There are a variety of paints products available in the market now. Even you can search on web to choose the right paint for your vehicle according to its model and make. For touching up, you can buy paint available in touch up bottles with brush applicators or paint come in aerosol cans. You can buy paint in quart or pint quantities for large affected surface.
- Give your vehicle a thorough wash before starting touching up the surfaces. Remove all the dirt and debris from the car surface properly. After washing your car properly, take a sandpaper and sand down the rough or damaged areas to make them smooth.
- Before start painting wear goggles, gloves and lungs protection mask in particular.
- Follow the directions given on paint manual carefully. Apply the clear coat of the paint on the required areas according to the instructions given. Clear coat will act as a base for paint.
- To check whether the paint matches to your exterior or not; put some paint on the hidden area of the car exterior. If you are satisfied with it, start touching up.
- Apply paint in straight even patterns with up and down motions. Apply paints in such away that new paint vanishes in the background of original paint.
- Once the paint is dry, apply wax to the areas treated with paint. Later, buff off the painted areas.
- If the desired shine is not achieved, you can use the hairdryer to use on the painted areas, it will give extra shine and smoothness to the surface.
