Sometimes that white or red plastic cover has knobs, tabs or screws that need to be removed to access the light bulb.
- Remove the plastic cover by unfastening the screw from outside or from inside the truck, as you car model permits you. Do it carefully – do not damage the cover.
- Take the bulb away by pushing and turning it simultaneously. You may unscrew the bulb.
- Once the bulb is removed, take it to auto supply store and get the one exact to the old bulb. Any other type of bulb may not function properly.
- Take a wire brush and clean the connections properly. Afterwards take a clean rag and wipe off all the dirt or corrosive matters from the aluminum casing. Don’t forget to clean the sockets.
- Repeat the same process as you did for removing the bulb. Push and turn the bulb simultaneously to get it fixed into the socket. You may have to line the tiny bumps with socket. Be gentle enough lest you will break the bulb.
- Replace the plastic cover back. Screw it tightly so that it will not fall away during drive.
- Once you are done, ask your friend to stand behind the vehicle and step on the brake pedal. Turn on the headlights as well to have a better idea. While stepping on the brake ask your friend to notice the light, if it turns on or not.
Tail lights are as important as the headlights. Tail lights warn the drivers coming behind you and send them signals like your brakes are applied so they have to reduce the speed etc. Proper working tail lights ensure your safety.
