How to Replace a Car Side Mirror

Replacing side mirror of a car is not a difficult task. You can replace the side mirror very easily and handily. Side mirror helps you a lot while driving. It should be replaced as soon as you find it broken. In this article we will tell you how to replace your car side mirror effortlessly.
Required Tools
- Owner’s manual
- Pry tool
- Replacement side mirror
- Screwdriver and/or torx driver
- Small shallow container (cup or bowl)
- Socket wrench or nut driver
Instructions:
- Before starting replacing side mirror, purchase a new set of side mirrors. You can get it fro any auto supply store or even you can order online. Make sure that you purchase or order the same side mirror that is specified for your car make and model. You can refer to owner’s manual for this.
- Switch of the engine and roll down the window.
- Locate the battery terminal and detach the battery’s negative terminal cable to avoid getting any electrocuted.
- Take a pry tool and take door panel away. Remove all the trim pieces and keep them at safe place. Remove the screws holding the panel with screwdriver.
- In case you have power windows, disconnect the wiring harness. If you have manual windows skip this step.
- With the help of socket wrench or nut driver, unfasten the bolts holding the mirror. This will help you to remove the mirror assembly.
- Use a torx screw and disconnect the mirror from the assembly. Pry off the plastic tabs on the backing until the two pieces set apart.
- To attach the new mirror to the assembly, snap it to the backing with the help of tabs.
- Once the new mirror is attached to the backing, place it in the assembly.
- 10. Reversing the whole process, install the new side mirror to your car.
