How to Repair Dents on Car

No matter how professional driver are you and how good are you in your driving skills, at times you get a bump or hit from other vehicles or you hit any object while doing reverse unexpectedly causing dent on your vehicle body. Dents are sometimes unavoidable. But there is nothing to worry about they can be removed at home. However, you can take your car to auto repair shop to fix those dents, but note that they will charge high amounts from you. Cost differs according to the nature of the dent.
How are dents caused?
Every driver wishes to have a glimmering exterior. But even a minor dent on your car surface spoils the entire looks of your car and makes it look shabby. Receiving dent on your car’s surface can be due to many reasons. Let us see some major causes of dents:
- Accidental Dents: Sometimes in parking lot, a driver hit your car mildly while reserving may cause a dent to your car body. Or while playing in a driveway, children hit something hard on the car to cause the dent. There can be many other reasons behind getting dent on car’s body.
- Sabotage: Many times antisocial gangs just for daily habit of misconduct bang your car hard to soothe their nerves.
Instructions
Following are given some instructions to fix the dent on your car:
- First look for the center of the dent and drill a hole with drill machine.
- Take a pulling tool and attach a thread on its out side to help you pull it easily. Put the tool inside the hole and pull it up using the thread until it pops out.
- Now take the hammer or rubber mullet and flatten the dent area by banging it gently. You have to flatten it from both inward and outward. You might have to get access under the dent area.
- Take body filler to fill up the hole and also apply it on the dented area. Filler will help to smooth the area and helps the primer to settle down quickly.
- Take a 36 grit sandpaper and sand the dented area down. This will help to smooth the filler on the dented surface. This step is necessary before applying primer.
- Now take a primer and spray it one the surface evenly. You have to apply six coats of primer to the surface and within each spray you have to give the gap of 10-15 minutes. This will let the primer dry properly.
- Let the primer dry completely. Then sand the primer surface to make it plan and smooth. Once the sanding is done, take a paint matching the exterior of your car and spray it on the affected surface. Let the paint dry and you will see that the dent is gone or merely unnoticeable.
These are the easiest steps you can follow to remove the dent from your car body with minimum of cost and effort. By removing dent you will get the glimmering exterior of your car back that make you feel pride.
