How to Prevent Leakage in Radiator

Radiator is the main component of car engine. It keeps the engine away from excessive heat. At times pinholes develop in radiators due to corrosion. These pinholes later cause the leak in the radiators. Corrosion is caused due to the presence of air and mud, which somehow make their passage into the system. You can replace the radiator in that condition, however, there are ways to prevent leak for some time.
Items Required
- Black pepper
- Raw eggs
- Water hose spray
Directions
Leak in radiator is a big threat to engine as it might cause engine to overheat due to the low level of coolant level in the cooling system. High temperatures of the engine may cause damage to the different components to work properly. There are certain preventive measures you can take to stop the leak temporarily.
- Regular checking is always compulsory to keep the engine in working condition. Check the coolant level when engine is cold enough, it should be in between MINIMUM or MAXIMUM.
- Inspect all the connections and hoses properly. Check whether hoses are correctly attached or not. Check for possible damages and cracks.
- Repairing the radiator leak and flushing is necessary. It is not always necessary to remove the radiator from its compartment for repair work. It depends on the repair work.
- Make sure that you never bend any radiator fins. You can simply flush the radiator by putting the water hose vertically downward in the radiator.
- Spray the water in the core surfaces of the radiator to remove the stain. You can spray the water vertically downward and the stain would be flowed out.
- Once the stain is cleared, spray the backside of the radiator with the compressed air. The pressure should be 71psi. Keep the spray nozzle at least 1 foot away.
Suggestions and Tips
To avoid any major damage, it is suggested to check the coolant level daily. Whenever you feel that the coolant level is decreasing, must check for leak or damage. If you locate any damage or crack, take your car immediately to the professional auto mechanic. You can use raw egg or black pepper to prevent leak momentarily.
