On a good shiny exterior of your car, a tiny scratch makes your car look low and shabby. But nothing to worry about, there are so many ways to remove the scratches and marks from the surface of the paint.
Scratches and Scratch Marks
Sometimes bumps or hits leave a mark on the surface of the paint. They are merely marks right above the surface of the paint. They are easy to remove as they failed to breach the layer of the paint. On the other hand, there are real scratches, which rip into the paint and leave unpleasant, severe trails on the surface of the car paint. Fortunately, both the types have some remedies that we will discuss in coming paragraphs.
How to Remove Scratch Marks
Scratch marks are not difficult to remove. There are many ways to remove the scratch marks. Let us discuss some of those briefly:
- Wash and Chamois: Washing and chamois is used to remove the faintest of the scratch marks from the surface of the paint. The faint marks are very easy to handle. Just wash them with soapy water and scrape the mark off with chamois. Chamois is designed to grip the paint thoroughly.
- Car Wax: There are car waxes which are planned to remove the scratch marks. To remove a scratch mark, apply rich amount of wax on the mark. Scrub off the wax sturdily on the surface until they are gone. Once the mark is gone, you can apply polish to your car to heighten its sparkling and scratch free frame.
- Scratch Remover: It is available at every car supply stores. It is formulated from strong ingredients, to work against scratch marks and real scratches. Scratch remover is so formulated to use against every type of marks or scratches without harming the paint job. Apply the remover on the marks or scratches, scrape it with chamois and the marks are gone.
Scratch remover is bit an expensive agent. It is recommended to apply first two options first, since washing and car wax is something which is readily available and if car wax or wash fails to remove the marks, purchase a scratch remover and try this.
How to Remove Scratches
There are different kinds of scratches, minor scratches or severe scratches. Minor scratches are easy to repair with scratch remover whereas major scratches if not repaired early may peel the paint off from the surrounding surfaces. Severe scratches cannot be repaired with remover; instead they require repainting of the surface.
- Super Glue and Powdered Paint: Powered paint is often used to make craft enamel, but it can be used as substitute car paint as well. Take super glue and apply a generous amount of it on scratch. Let the glue evenly distributed in the scratch. Take the powdered paint of same color as your car’s exterior and apply it on the glue. Apply some car wax on the paint and rub it. Later, cover the paint with aluminum foil and heat it with hair dryer for about two hours. Take the foil off the scratch and you will see the smooth unnoticeable surface.
- Sandpaper and Paint: Severe scratches are mostly rough and have ragged edges, making paint hard to adhere to the surface. Use sandpaper to remove the ragged edges and make the surface smooth. Later, apply paint on the surface.
- Thinner and Spray Paint: You can use thinner for the scratches which are unable to remove any other way. Apply thinner to the scratch area until the paint fades away. Use the spray paints on the affected area to restore the lost shiny scratch free surface.
However, it is not seem to be the tough task, but yet you need to work with commitment and ample focus to get your job rightly done without going to any auto paint workshop.
