How to Make a Three Point Turn

Like all the other driving skills like Parallel Park, backing up in straight line etc, three point turn or k-turn is also a driving technique that has to be learned by every teenager to pass the driving test. Three point turn is not an easy skill, you need to have a lot of practice before coming master of it.
Why to do it?
Three point turn come handy when you are required to change the direction of the car, especially on narrow roads where U-turn is not applicable. Three point turn largely depends the size of the car and the road width. You have to be careful about the traffic on the road. Make sure that the road is empty before doing three point turn.
Instructions
In many states, you have to be proficient enough to do the three point turn to pass the driving course. It needs a lot of practice and skills. Three point turn if not done properly may cause damage to your vehicle.
- Before doing the three point turn, make sure that there is no car in front or behind your vehicle. Keep checking your blind spot regularly.
- Once you are sure that the road is clear from all sides, make a perpendicular to the road into your left or right whichever way you want to turn.
- Sometimes you cannot make perpendicular on your first attempt. Drive your car back and forth turning your car accordingly until you make the desired perpendicular.
- After that put your car in reverse and slowly move backward across the other side of the road. Make sure you are back enough.
- Set your car in first gear and again look on the either side of the road to check the traffic.
- To complete the turn, spin your steering extremely left or right whichever way you are turning. Step on the gas and finish the turn.
- Move forward, straighten up your car and proceed to your destination.
Three point turn is helpful in difficult situations and you need to practice it a lot to handle such situations quite easily. In start it might seem tricky but once you get into it, this will be a great help to you.
