How to Replace a Fuel Injector

If you are having problems like stuttering, rough idle or slow throttle response, you might need to replace your fuel injector. You can change your fuel injector on your own. But for that you have to be focused and committed as well. Here are given some of the steps with the help of which you can replace the fuel injector of your car.
Items Required
Following items are required to replace the fuel injector.
- Goggles
- Pliers
- Wrench
- Rags
- Motor oil
- Sockets
- New fuel injector

- Carefully examine the engine. You should have remembered how and where the different parts are attached. You can make a note of them also.
- Disconnect all the parts which are in way of car’s fuel injector assembly. You have to start with air intake system then hoses and wires and all other parts.
- Note that if your fuel injector has holding rails or not. These rails are not common in all automobiles. So, if you have those remove them by unfasten the bolts with the help of wrench.
- Once you have removed the retaining rails, take the injector out carefully. To avoid the spurt of the gas from the injector use goggles.
- Look for the old seal and make it free from all the dirt and residue. You can use tooth pick to get rid of them.
- Take a new fuel injector and apply some oil on its seal. Replace it on the engine at its specific place.
- Attach the new fuel injector with the retaining rails by tightening bolts.
- Take help from your note and reconnect all the hoses, wires and all the other parts carefully. Make sure that each and every part is at its right place and properly connected. Wipe off all the dirt and excessive grease.
Fuel injector is an important part of the engine and has an important role to play. You can replace it on your own with the help of these directions and can save your money and time as well.
