Proper inflated tires not only provide you better control and traction, but also help you to reduce fuel consumption and safe drive. On the other hand, low or bad inflated tires not only risk your and your passengers’ safety, but also cost you more fuel consumption. Tire pressure should be checked regularly for better performance and safety.
Items Required
Air compressor is the only device used to inflate the tires. Air compressors are almost available at every gas stations or garages or workshops, but you own one that will be more helpful. It is prefer to use air compressor with pressure gauge attached to it. This will help to take the perfect pressure reading.
There are certain things that you have to keep in mind before inflating tires. In order to take the correct and accurate reading make sure that the compressor hose is not leaking and also there is no water droplets coming out of the nozzles. These water droplets once entered into the tire, they damage the surface of the tire.
Instructions
Following instructions will help you to inflate the tires properly:
- Make sure that you have parked the car in a way that the wheels are in reach to air compressor hose.
- Remember each tire has different air pressure according to the vehicle manufacturer’s specifications. You can find those manufacturer air pressure specifications on placard attached to doorjamb. You should keep those readings in mind before inflating your car tires to avoid any mishap.
- Take the valve cap out of the inlet.
- Take an air compressor hose and push the nozzle attached to that hose down to the valve inlet. You will get the pressure reading on pressure gauge.
- To inflate the tire press the lever down to let the air flow into the tire through valve inlet. Keep an eye on the gauge whiling inflating the tire. Do not fill more than the specified pressure.
- In case you have overfilled the tire, release some of the air with the help of release knob, or by inserting anything like matchstick etc.
- Adjust the air pressure with the help of pressure gauge and put back the valve cap. Repeat the same process with all tires.
Tire pressure should be checked regularly to ensure your and your passengers’ safety.
